Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil

(Pastor Debbie Bledsoe, Edmonton First Mennonite Church)

This vigil is a drop-in, quiet time in a dim sanctuary. Attendees sit with a memorial card for a transgender person that lost their life this year. They are invited to light a candle in memory and to take home the memorial card.

Instructions:
-Print memorial cards from the TDoR website. (Copy and paste pictures and descriptions into another document and remove any sensitive or graphic descriptions.)
-Place memorial cards in the pews, taking up the seat that person would have in worship.
-Provide candles for attendees to light. If battery-operated, leaving the candle in the pew can be a meaningful representation of the person on the memorial card.
-Have a greeter to quietly welcome attendees and to give instructions. Share an information sheet if desired.
